Toy is an umbrella term which is used to refer to an item that is used and meant for fun and play. Puppet and dolls are also types of toys.

Puppetry as an art form is thought to have its roots in ancient cultures, over 3000 years old. It’s occasionally claimed that puppets were utilized in the theater arts even before the advent of human celebrities. The first puppets probably originated in Egypt, where clay and ivory articulated puppets have been found in tombs. Puppets are mentioned in writing as early as 422 B.C.E..

In the beginning of the 19th century, ceramic has been used for making dolls. Rag Dolls comprise of any cloth. After World War II, doll makers started using plastics. Therefore, dolls makers have used an assortment of substances to produce dolls.

The definitions of toy, doll and puppet appears to be the same in many contexts. But, an individual can contemplate toy like an umbrella term which comprises items designed and intended for drama. It also covers puppets and dolls. However, the expression puppet is generally associated with the models of animals or persons which are controlled using hands, gloves, sticks and strings. Dolls are usually utilized in context to a representational model of a kid or a girl.

Puppets also continue to be utilized in several cases to appeal to families and children, whether on television or in live performances. Puppetry is viewed as an ideal vehicle for presenting ethical messages concerning youth theories like bullying. Puppets can also be used in drama therapy as a safe way for traumatized children to explore their fears. Whether the focus is on adult or kid enjoyment of puppets, there are regional puppet guilds and societies throughout the USA, Europe, and other parts of the planet. Several national and international museums also exist to celebrate the history of puppets.
